Reverie Farm Horse Rescue Information We have been taking in and purchasing starvation and abuse cases for many years. Many of us here fondly remember Onyx, who the Vet said to "Put to sleep" as she would never survive. Onyx lived for eight more years and became the most popular horse on the farm at the time. A glance at Clem Kadiddle Hopper, Ever So Clever, Little Miss Witchy, Work of Art (Pablo), Miss Zee Belle, Teddy Bear, Chris's Princess, Slinky Toy, Sunday Matinee (Mattie), Slew, Dinero, Plain Jane, Sadie, and Captain makes it hard to remember the deplorable condition they arrived in. Now check out the show pages results and see how many of these names appear there! Some still need more weight, but what is seen now is a gleam in their eyes and a shine to many of their coats. When John came this winter, he was brushed to get the mud off and every bit of his hair came out; now look at him shine! I supply the purchase cost, transportation, feed, hay, shelter, Vet and Farrier care, but a lot of the love and time spent with each animal has been the work of the students, our own Reverie Riders 4-H group, the Maryland Chapter of the Freelancers, and many parents and volunteers. Countless hours have been spent grooming, calming, and retraining frightened and abused animals. Every minute of this time is well worth it when you look at the above named horses. Over the years of seeing
starvation cases so bad that most people believed couldn't be brought back to
health, and neglected horses so lame they could barely walk...I thought that I
had seen it all. No!!! I see something new every day. Please help these helpless
animals. If you see abuse report it!
